About the event
This November, the Sedona Dance Project presents an unparalleled immersive experience, "Dances for Waddell," on November 7th and 8th at the enchanting Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village. Under the visionary direction of Artistic Director Danielle McNeal Strabala, this unique production features five original contemporary works choreographed as a living tribute to the iconic sculptures of John Waddell.
Breaking the conventional stage-audience barrier, this event invites guests on a captivating roaming journey through Tlaquepaque’s beautiful courtyards and fountains. At each site-specific location, audiences will gather to witness dance pieces created in direct dialogue with Waddell’s powerful bronze forms. Strabala’s choreography delves into the human emotion and elegant lines inherent in Waddell’s work, translating his static figures into fluid, expressive movement. Dancers will interact with the art and architecture, creating a dynamic conversation between the ephemeral art of dance and the enduring nature of sculpture.
This innovative performance is designed not just…
